Global Market for Girls' Education

The Carbonics play this benefit show 1:45-2:45pm One New Education (ONE) was founded in 2011 to help girls in developing countries stay in school and be able to realize their dreams of supporting themselves and their families and of contributing to their communities. The foundation currently helps 24 students from nine countries in primary and secondary school, university, and vocational school. ONE is funded mostly through private donations and our annual fundraiser, the Global Market for Girls’ Education (GMGE).

At this event, there will be student and teacher art for sale, and music and dance performances. Participants in this year’s event include Coconino High School, Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy, Mountain Charter School, Sinagua Middle School, and the NAU Trends and Issues in Art Education and Secondary Art Education Methods classes, as well as the NAU Art Club. There will also be music and dance performances from FALA, local band The Carbonics, and Ballet Folklorico de Colores, among others.

Items for sale include items for the home from Laura Locke’s Architectural Interior Design class at Coconino High School, wooden games from Amy Dries’ Woods and Mixed Media class at Sinagua Middle School, ceramics from Kelly Woodruff’s Sculpture class at Coconino High School, ceramics, drawings, paintings and prints from Rena Hamilton’s art classes at Flagstaff Arts and Leadership Academy and much more! There will also be global art for sale from Panama, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and other countries.

The event is free and open to all – come join the fun and help support women’s education! 10am-4pm
